BERGAMO BRESCIA - ITALIAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2023
The choice took place in July 2020, the Italian Government thus wanted to respond to a proposal made by the two cities by "illuminating" them with the title as a light of hope and cure following the difficult period experienced by the territories during the pandemic.
The theme around which the many planned initiatives are structured is precisely that of the "Illuminated City", a journey through culture and beauty that aims to increase the valorisation and use of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
We mention only a few particularly important interventions such as those intended for the redevelopment and restoration works of the Bergamo History Museum or the creation of the new layout of the Capitolium and the enhancement and restoration of the Winged Victory, etc...
But the most important works that will touch the territories of Bergamo and Brescia in 2023 there is certainly the "Ciclovia della Cultura" , whose itinerary has been made official. The route will be about 75 kilometers long , it will touch the Venetian walls of the fortified city of Bergamo, the complex of San Salvatore and Santa Giulia and the archaeological area of the Capitolium, allowing cyclists to admire castles, monasteries, villas, historic centres, villages and farmhouses .
With an attentive eye to the creation of itineraries for accessible and inclusive tourism , tourist itineraries and services for people with disabilities will also be created.
